And then there were three...
This glum-looking trio are the only members of a South Yorkshire Girl Guides group.
And Billie Baker and Loren Sidebottom, both aged 10, and Emily Kelly, 11, could be left without a group at all if new members don’t sign up soon.
Guider Kirsty Roberts, who leads the unit in Dodworth, Barnsley, said: “With these numbers it would not be sustainable for us to continue the group in the long term.
“We have tried advertising in local businesses, community notice boards, churches, schools, but so far with limited response.
“I started in the Brownies at the age of eight and I’m 25 and I still have loads of fun.
“It would be a real pity if we didn’t get enough members to continue.”
The group, for girls aged 10 to 14, have an action packed programme of events planned and are currently doing a series of group work activities around chocolate.
Kirsty and Assistant Guider Laura Smith also plan to take the girls to a national Guide pop concert in London in October, which in the past has featured top artists including JLS, Scouting for Girls and Pixie Lott.
The young Guides have urged other girls to sign up.
“Guides is fun, a chance to do something different and new,” said Billie.
“I recommend Guides, as it’s exciting, and we do something different every week.
“I want more people to come so I can meet new friends, the leaders can organise more activities and maybe even camping or sleepovers which would be cool.”
Loren added: “It’s a good laugh and very exciting.
“I recommend Guides because its friendly, fun, meet new friends. We might even going to London for a day to see a pop concert, if we have more girls.
“I’d really like more people to come as we will be able to play a wider range of games, and it would just be more fun with more people joining in.”
The group meets at Dodworth Methodist Church on Tuesdays between 7.30pm and 9pm.
