Trials off after downpours

Have your say

CHATSWORTH’S horse trials have been cancelled this weekend – after waterlogged ground put paid to the event.

The horse trials were due to attract hundreds of riders and stallholders from today, but heavy rain overnight meant organisers were forced to call the competition off.

In a statement, the organisers said: “With huge regret, Chatsworth has been abandoned.

“There has been 22ml of rain in six hours, and the ground is totally waterlogged.

“Even with good weather from now on, the footings would be unsafe. The stables are flooded.”

Advance ticket holders will be contacted within 10 days to arrange a refund.
