Trees restore former glory

FIFTY trees are to planted at Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens to mark the 50th anniversary of its opening to the public.

The Friends of Cannon Hall will follow a planting plan by landscape historian Jane Furse to restore the park to the original layout devised by designer Richard Woods, a contemporary of Capability Brown, in the 1760s.

Varieties that would have been used then will be planted, including oak, beech, lime and weeping willow. The Friends are inviting people to sponsor trees for 100 as memorials.
