Council staff had to clear a Sheffield road of fallen trees which were toppled during the heavy snow.

Several cars had become stuck in the icy conditions on Manchester Road, Deepcar, as the flurries began on Boxing Day when the trees started to fall into the road.

Nobody was injured.

A spokesman for Streets Ahead said: “We received a report late on Friday that trees had fallen from a privately owned woodland area into Manchester Road, Deepcar.

“As the fallen trees were obstructing the highway, we attended the site and removed the trees from the road to make it safe.

“We are continuing to work to clear the roads of any fallen trees and we urge anybody who spots a fallen tree or one that looks unsafe to report it to 0114 273 4567.”
