Trees and hotels

The other day, I read that tree-lined roads could present a problem, especially when in full leaf as the pollution from vehicles could not easily escape from the green 'tunnel' into the upper atmosphere.

I wonder, therefore, as a compromise the trees could be expertly pruned, thereby reducing the amount of greenery, but not destroying it entirely.

I believe this would also reduce the extent of root growth, though I am not certain on this point.

Changing the subject and on to the proposed conversion of the Central Library and Graves Art Gallery into a hotel, the council are currently overseeing the demolition of the Grosvenor Hotel in the City centre.
