Tree is saved from the axe

Have your say

RESIDENTS in a former mining village have won their fight to save a laburnum tree from being axed for a new housing development

The 30ft high tree, which is 35 years old, was threatened when a builder applied for planning permission to build two houses in the garden of a house in Storth Lane, Kiveton Park.

Residents were upset when they discovered that the tree could be felled, so they contacted local councillors.

A tree preservation order has now been approved for the specimen.
