TRAVEL REVIEW: The Arch London is boutique hotel heaven

Calm and tranquillity perhaps aren't the first words that spring to mind when visiting central London.

But in between the hustle and bustle of hectic London life I’ve discovered a hidden haven of luxury and peace. Just a stone’s throw from Oxford Street and Hyde Park is The Arch London, a Georgian townhouse nestled on a calm, leafy street.

It’s easy to see why the five star hotel has developed a reputation as one of London’s best kept secrets but I feel the need to shout about it from the rooftops.

The property that opened in 2010 spans seven Grade II listed former Georgian townhouses and two mews homes and is packed to the rafters with original character and contemporary design.

If you needed any confirmation that you’re in postcode paradise let me tell you the Material Girl herself owns a property just over the road - if it’s good enough for Madonna after all.

There’s no denying the location and stylish hotel interior are five star but it’s the welcoming and attentive staff that really elevate this hotel to the next level.

In fact the hotel are so keen to make guests feel at home that they even welcome your four legged friends to stay.

The hotel is one of London’s few dog friendly five star hotels, with an ethos to treat pooches to the same indulgent experience as their owners - there’s even delicious doggy food cooked to order by a chef. I’d left my pampered pooch at home on this occasion but it’s great to discover such a luxury dog friendly hotel when I next treat him to a trip to the capital.

After checking in we were shown to our spacious room bursting with vivacious colours and all the mod cons you could think of.

From Sky HD, a TV in the bath, Nespresso machine and even a do not disturb electronic button meaning there’s no need to scrabble around hanging your paper sign on the door before housekeeping wake you from your slumber.

It’s the added extras and attention to detail that really do make the rooms stand out and the complimentary soft drinks as well as luxurious robes were a nice touch.

The luxury of the rooms means it’s as tempting to simply hide away for the weekend for some much needed R&R as it is to explore the city.

Luckily if it’s good food and a few cocktails you’re after it’s just a lift ride away to visit Hunter 486, the restaurant located within the boutique hotel.

Specialising in classic British cuisine the menu offers good old fashioned hearty dishes with a sophisticated modern twist.

It was a refreshing change to enjoy a three course meal where the ingredients were left to do the talking. And after my hearty meal of sumptuous crab cakes, one of the most perfectly cooked steaks I have ever tasted and a refreshing coconut panna cotta I was ready to venture out to check out some of the bars on Bond Street.

Breakfast is equally as impressive with a full range of cooked breakfast options and luxury continental choices.

All in all I’d say The Arch London is boutique hotel heaven - perfect whether you want to relax, go sight seeing or bag yourself a bargain in the January sales.
