Woodhead Pass is closed to high-sided vehicles due to strong winds

The area is being battered by winds as strong as 40mph and the Met Office has put out a yellow weather warning for today (February 21).

And the wind speeds are expected to increase over the course of the day, reaching highs of 49mph by around 8pm this evening.

Heavy rain is also forecast.

Alternative routes between Sheffield and Manchester, including Snake Pass, remain open to vehicles.
