Part of the M1 in South Yorkshire was closed following a ‘carriageway defect’ yesterday (Thursday, February 20).

One lane was shut on the northbound carriageway, from J36 to J37.
A spokesperson for Highways England said: “At 3.31pm yesterday, traffic officers on a routine patrol found a pothole on a bridge joint at Brough Green Bridge.
“A lane one closure was put in place for the safety of drivers while the repair was carried out, which reopened at 4.15pm.”
