Video shows dangerous driver nearly knocking down NHS worker in Sheffield

Despite Sheffield’s roads being largely deserted in recent weeks, one NHS worker suffered a near miss while cycling to work when a dangerous driver pulled out at a moment’s notice.

A GoPro video shows the woman making her way down Summerfield Street when a car suddenly pulls out from Napier Street and cuts right across her path, forcing her to swerve to miss it.

The incident took place at around 8.20am on Wednesday when the woman was travelling to work.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “This is one of the scariest encounters I’ve had in years of cycling in Sheffield.

“Roads are emptier at the moment but drivers are far more dangerous and making far more bad decisions like this.”

The driver did not stop to check if she was injured.

The woman added: “I was lucky yesterday, next time I or someone else might not be.”
