Van destroys Sheffield bus stop and ‘narrowly misses’ businesses in horror crash
A van smashed into a bus stop in Woodhouse in the early hours of this morning, narrowly missing businesses.
Witnesses said the bus stop was smashed to pieces after the van hit it at around 5.15am today (June 3).
Glass was left all over the floor and workers were at the scene cleaning up the damage.
Beth Knight, who works at the Woodhouse Pantry behind where the bus stop was said the roof missed their business ‘by a couple of inches’ when it fell.
"There was luckily no damage to any businesses,” she said. “It missed us by a couple of inches and it where it landed it was just kissing the shutters of the barbers next door.”
The road is now clear and all the debris has been removed. Nobody is believed to have been injured as a result of the incident.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said that police were called at 5.34am this morning.
