Tributes paid as dad, 33, who died in M1 crash near Sheffield is named

A man who died on the M1 near Sheffield has today been named as Daniel Pietkiel.

The 33-year-old was described as a ‘much-loved son, brother and father’ in a moving tribute from his family.

He sadly died at the scene after a collision on the M1 northbound, just prior to junction 38, on Saturday, October 24, at 7.05pm.

He was reportedly in the carriageway when he was struck by a white Toyota Hiace.

His family said: “Daniel was a much loved son, brother and father; in many messages from friends he was remembered as good-hearted and always-smiling. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends both in Poland and the UK.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage from the area that evening has been asked to call police on 101, quoting the incident number 787 of October 24.
