Traffic chaos around Meadowhall as lorry stuck under bridge

A lorry stuck under a railway bridge in Sheffield has caused traffic chaos around Meadowhall on Sunday evening (December 6).

The video that is making its rounds on social media shows that the lorry has collided with the bridge on Meadowhall Road, close to Weedon Street.

This has caused the vehicles behind it to turn back and bus services were forced to divert due to the incident.

First South Yorkshire said its 18 and X78 services in the direction of Meadowhall were diverted via Weedon Street, Meadowhall Drive and Meadowhall Way.

However, services from Meadowhall are operating as normal.

The bridge is known to be regularly struck by HGVs.

In June last year, a lorry has collided with the railway bridge and in 2018, a lorry suffered significant damages when it got stuck under the same bridge, causing the road to be covered in debris.
