In the five years from January 1 2014 to December 31 2018, there were more than 670,000 accidents causing injury or death on Britain’s roads.

On Britain’s biggest roads (A-roads and motorways) throughout this five-year period (the latest data available), there was an average of 10.4 accidents causing injury or death per mile.

Sheffield’s roads were among the highest in the country for road traffic accidents, with hundreds taking place on some over a four year period.
