South Yorkshire buses delayed and diverted by drivers queuing for McDonald’s Drive-Thru

Buses in South Yorkshire are facing delays as long queues for McDonald’s Drive-Thrus block roads as the fast food giant re-opens for the first time since lockdown began.

First South Yorkshire has reported the delays on two bus services in Rotherham, and listed diversions that will now be taken in order to avoid the bad traffic.

Services 22a/22c has been diverted from Taylor’s Lane roundabout via Mangham Road and Greasbrough Road into Rotherham interchange.

The 141 service has been diverted from the bottom of Car Hill, via Greadbrough Road to the Rotherham interchange.

McDonald’s opened today for Drive-Thru only, with the company saying every one in the country would be open by Thursday.

The fast food giant closed all of its restaurants on March 23, following lockdown restrictions put in place by the Government.

However, workers at the restaurants said they were ‘fearful’ of returning to work while the coronavirus pandemic persists.
