Sheffield traffic: Severe congestion by Chesterfield and queues building on M1 in morning rush hour

Sheffield drivers should be aware of severe congestion on a major route to Chesterfield this morning.

In what is becoming a trend for the week, the A61 southbound is seeing severe queues around Whittington Moor roundabout, with tailbacks in all directions.

The roundabout is one of the major gateways into Chesterfield from Sheffield.

Delays of 15 minutes and an average speed of 5mph have been reported.

Traffic is also moving slowly at the Catcliffe roundabout at Rotherham approaching the M1 from the A630, with average speeds of 10mph.
