Operator Stagecoach said work to replace worn rail will start tomorrow (May 4), resulting in a reduced Blue Route service and a change to the Purple Route timetable.

The Blue Route service will only operate as far as Birley Lane as the first area of work will take place in the Hackenthorpe and Donetsk Way areas. This means no Supertram services will run between Birley Moor Road and Halfway.

The work is expected to be completed by June 5, but Stagecoach said dates may change as the work progresses.

Customers can use bus service 120 as an alternative, which travels between Halfway and the City Centre or service 80a which operates between Birley Moor Road and the city centre.
