The area around Queens Road and Charlotte Road on the A61 was under water when the mains burst on Monday evening, which has sent thousands of gallons of water pouring onto the carriageway.

Following the incident, homes in the area were left without water, and commuters faced long delays getting out of the city centre.

Today (Wednesday 5), First Bus announced that Charlotte Road remains closed in both directions.

Services 11, 51 and 41 are diverted via East Bank Road, Duchess road and Queens Road then will resume their normal route at the traffic lights at Charlotte road.

In January, hundreds of homes were cut off for several hours after a huge water main burst near St Mary’s Roundabout.
