Sheffield Parkway to close overnight this weekend
The Sheffield Parkway will be closed overnight this weekend, as part of works to add an extra lane to the dual carriageway.
The Sheffield bound carriageway of the A630 Parkway will be closed between Catcliffe and the M1 junction 33 on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 May from 8pm until 6am. Traffic wuill be directed along alternative routes.
Traffic will be diverted via Rotherham: A630 West Bawtry Road, A630 Centenary Way, A6178 Sheffield Road, M1 J34 Tinsley, A631 Shepcote Lane and Europa Link.
The road improvements will create an extra lane in each direction between Catcliffe Junction and the M1, and widen the roundabout and slip roads at M1 Junction 33.
Paul Woodcock, Rotherham Council’s strategic director for regeneration and environment, , said: “The works will make a real difference to thousands of commuters’ journeys in the region every day and will also feed into our ongoing work to improve the air quality in the borough. We thank residents, road users and local businesses for their patience while this work takes place.”
