Sheffield motorcyclist injured in crash on Snake Crash

A young Sheffield man was seriously injured after his motorbike hit a barrier and burst into flames in the Peak District.

The 20-year-old was travelling along the Snake Pass, near Glossop, when the accident happened at about 5.20pm on Monday.

The rider was thrown from his Kawasaki motorbike, which then crashed into a barrier and burst into flames.

The man was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital, in Fir Vale, Sheffield.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “The rider was quite badly injured. He was suffering with a suspected broken arm and various other fractures and airlifted to hospital.”

The road was closed for more than three hours while emergency services cleared the road.
