Sheffield M1 closed: South Yorkshire Police close lane on busy motorway stretch over standing water

A northbound lane on the M1 has been closed between Junctions 31 and 32 due to standing water, South Yorkshire Police have announced.
Traffic can be seen at a standstill on motorway cameras as traffic looks to traverse around the closure. The announcement from the force was posted to Twitter, where they advised motorists to find “an alternative route where possible”.
The announcement comes after some heavy rainfall over the course of this morning, which has resulted in a number of Sheffield roads developing pools of standing water.
