The ‘Greens in Benidorm’ blog on Facebook and Instagram tells the story of Emma and Stuart Green and their two children, who come from Chapeltown.

Mum Emma came up with the idea for the blog during lockdown, when their planned visit to the family’s holiday home in Benidorm was cancelled due to coronavirus.

And since they started it, the posts and videos have reached a staggering 38,000 people, with many emailing Emma to ask questions about various aspects of post-Covid travel.

Emma said: “We usually come here for every school holiday but our trip at Easter obviously got cancelled so we were desperate for our Benidorm fix!

“I saw lots of people saying they were scared to go away post lockdown so I thought I’m going to document what it’s like as a family of four.”

The Greens’ blog shows what it is like for families to travel through the airport, get on the plane, land at a destination and holiday in the ‘new normal’.

“I get messages daily asking what it’s like – people are really enjoying my blog,” said Emma.

“I’ve been featured on Hallam FM and Hits Radio Manchester, and an interview is planned next week with a radio station in Benidorm!”

Emma said the main differences of post-coronavirus holidays so far had been were social distancing in the bars and a booking system for free spaces on the beach, along with masks and hand-sanitising like in the UK.

But she said that these small inconveniences paled into insignificance when came to getting away and enjoying the sun.

“We are really enjoying our holiday as we always do here in Benidorm,” said Emma.

“All you have to do is wear your masks, follow the rules and enjoy your holiday!"

Flights to European holiday destinations were stopped at the beginning of the coronavirus crisis in March, but many have since started up again.

Holiday giant TUI announced this week that flights would resume from Doncaster Sheffield Airport on August 1.
