Sheffield drivers warned to ‘allow extra journey’ time tonight with roadworks to cause rush-hour traffic

Thousands of people will be travelling to the FlyDSA Arena tonight for the Young Voices concert, and drivers have been warned that roadworks could mean they face bad traffic on their journey.

Emergency roadworks are in place on Broughton Lane after a water main burst.

A spokesperson for the arena said: “Please allow extra time for your journey this evening as emergency roadworks have commenced on Broughton Lane, we are expecting higher levels of traffic than usual for this performance.”

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water, who are carrying out the works, said: ““We are on site today and over the weekend on Broughton Lane in Sheffield. We understand the inconvenience the works cause and will compete as quickly as possible.

“We hope to have finished and reinstated the road by early Monday morning.”

Doors open at 6pm tonight (January 10), with the concert due to start at 7pm.
