The main burst close to the junction with Amos Road, adding to the heavy traffic already caused by the suspension of the Stagecoach Tram Train service between Rotherham and Sheffield.
First South Yorkshire has reported delays of up to 54 minutes for all services in the Meadowhall area.
The AA reports heavy traffic all around Meadowhall, with cars moving at a speed of around 5mph.
