Roadworks cause chaos on busy Sheffield road as drivers seen ‘shouting and beeping’
An electricity fault has been causing ‘chaos’ on a busy Sheffield road – with disruption set to continue for the rest of the week.
Northern Powergrid is repairing a fault on the electricity network in Woodseats, with roadworks in place on Chesterfield Road, at the junction with Woodseats House Road and Holmhirst Road.
The repairs began yesterday and are scheduled to continue until the end of Friday, November 20.
Drivers described rush hour yesterday as ‘chaos’, with Roy Wilson calling it the worst he has ever seen.
One woman said: “It was chaos last night at rush hour! Everyone beeping and shouting at each other in cars.”
Another said: “It’s horrendous for us carers getting through this traffic.”
A Northern Powergrid spokeswoman said the work followed a power cut reported on Saturday, which affected more than 120 customers.
Having carried out a temporary repair, she explained, workers were now fixing the underground cable.
