Poll on road investment

Over two thirds of people would like to see the Government invest money in improving existing roads rather than building new cycle lanes according to a Motorpoint poll.

The online survey was conducted by the car retailer which has branch in Sheffield.

76 per cent of people want the Government to use proposed additional funding announced in May to help fix the £10bn worth of faults currently identified on country’s road.

1,032 people took part in the poll.

Mark Carpenter, Chief Executive Officer of Motorpoint, said: “The results of our poll clearly recognise that while more cycle lanes are welcome, the sheer number of miles of roads that need fixing cannot be ignored and, as the UK comes out of lockdown, the priority surely has to be rectifying our roads so that the wheels of business can move freely once again.”
