Pensioner seriously injured in crash in Sheffield

A pensioner is in hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Sheffield.

The 70-year-old woman, from Aston, was driving a red Fiat Punto along Retford Road, Woodhouse, when she was involved in a crash with a red Citroen C1 turning right onto the road.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.05am yesterday.

Police said the pensioner was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield with serious injuries while the driver of the other car - a 17-year-old female - was unharmed.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Inquiries into the collision are ongoing. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle prior to the collision.”
