Oil spill triggers lane closures on M1 near Sheffield

Highways England said four lanes were closed on the M1 northbound from Junction 33 Sheffield to Junction 34 Meadowhall.

The authority added that South Yorkshire Police and traffic officers were on scene this evening (June 15).

They tweeted: “Lanes 1-4 are currently closed approaching J34 #Meadowhall.

Traffic cameras are showing long tailbacks.

According to the Highways England website the incident is expected to clear at around 8.15pm.
