Northern said this morning that signalling problems caused by fires between Sheffield and Moorthorpe meant trains on the route were being delayed by around 15 minutes, with the disruption expected to last all day.
People have been advised to only travel if it is essential, to avoid the spread of coronavirus, but trains are still running to serve NHS staff and other key workers.
