Multiple casualties in major M1 crash that causes motorway to close

Two patients have been taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital after a lorry and two cars crashed on the M1.

East Midlands Ambulance Service have confirmed that there have been two casualties as a result of the major motorway collision between Junction 28 and Junction 29 on the motorway.

Emergency services arrived at the scene earlier this afternoon and three ambulances and an air ambulance are still in attendance.

Traffic is now being released past the collision in lane 4.
