A teenager has tragically died in a horror motorcycle crash on Ecclesall Road early this morning.

There was a huge police presence at the scene, close to the roundabout at the ring road, this morning, with a forensic collision investigation van stationed near the motorbike.

The road was closed this morning in both directions between the roundabout and the junction with Pear Street.

A number of yellow markers could be seen on the road, all the way up to the petrol station.

Motorcyclist killed after tragic crash

South Yorkshire Police have confirmed a 19-year-old man has died after a crash on Ecclesall Road. A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to Ecclesall Road in Sheffield at 1.01am this morning (Tuesday 22 June) to reports that a motorcycle had been involved in a collision.The rider of the bike, a 19-year-old man from Sheffield was taken to hospital by ambulance but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. His family have been informed and are being supported by our specially trained officers.As our investigation continues, anyone with information that may help is asked to call 101 quoting inc 33 of 22 June.”

There is still a huge police presence at the scene, where a motorbike could be seen resting against the railings on the central reservation, not far from the roundabout.

A police collision investigation van is there, a huge cordon is in place and there are a number of yellow markers on the road, stretching as far as the petrol station.

The road has been closed this morning between the roundabout at the ring road and the junction with Pear Street.
