Here's how revellers can get home from Sheffield this New Year's Eve

If you’re planing to have a drink while you see in the new year in Sheffield, you might want to have a plan in place to get home safely.

Travel South Yorkshire say most buses and trams will run a Saturday service, with last departures between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on the 31st.

However, the following exceptions apply:

Isle Coaches and Kettlewells - Monday to Friday service.

Powells Bus - Monday to Friday service with the exception of Service 5 which will operate as a normal Tuesday service.

TM Travel - Monday to Friday service with last departures between 5.30 and 6.30pm.

Stagecoach - Operating bus services to and from XPO Logistics for shift times.

Sheffield Community Transport - Normal Tuesday service.

Trams will run on a Saturday service, with last departures between 6 and 7pm.

City Taxis advise that from 6pm on December 31 until 6am on January 2, fares will be time and a half.

If you’re planning to get out and about on New Year’s Day, there are no services from Barnsley, Doncaster or Rotherham, except for Stagecoach’s XPO Logistics bus for shift times.

Some Sheffield services run by First will operate between 8am and 6pm. Funding has been provided for these special bus services by Sheffield City Council, and normal fares apply.

Tram services will operate on a special timetable from around 8am until 8pm on the blue and yellow routes, but there will be no purple route trams running.
