Heavy rain blocks trains betweens Sheffield and Manchester

Commuters are warned to expect delays after heavy rain blocked train lines between Sheffield and Manchester.

Northern Rail says there are delays of up to 30 minutes this morning (Thursday, October 8) on services between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly due to heavy water flooding the railway near Edale overnight.

This is affecting services between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions.

Disruption is expected until 9.30am.
