Free senior bus travel not allowed on South Yorkshire early buses to make room for key workers

During lockdown, free senior travel was extended to services running before 9.30am to enable over-60s people to get to supermarkets to do essential shopping during the coronavirus lockdown.
However, from yesterday (June 8), ahead of the increased relaxation of lockdown restrictions on June 15 – which will see staff from many non-essential shops and businesses required to go back to work and busier public transport – this will no longer be the case.

Hide AdStagecoach South Yorkshire said: “The restriction on senior concessionary travel before 9.30am is due to be restored on 8 June in South Yorkshire and 15 June in Derbyshire to make sure the maximum possible capacity is available for key workers and others who need to travel for work.”
