Buses stranded on West Street as snow causes traffic chaos on Sheffield streets
This was the scene on one of Sheffield’s busiest roads this morning after heavy snowfall left buses and trams stranded- spelling travel chaos for commuters.
Buses and tram services in the city were cancelled this morning (Tuesday, February 2) after snowfall overnight made for treacherous conditions on the roads.
Stagecoach and First are now currently running either a full or limited timetable which you can find on the Star’s live blog- however, residents are still ‘strongly advised’ not to travel.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach said: “All routes are now open in full. However, all services are subject to delays with possible cancellations and alterations.
"The advice remains to stay at home and avoid travelling unless your journey is absolutely essential.”
It comes after the Met Office sounded an amber weather warning for snow and ice across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and other parts of northern England, which will remain in place throughout the day.
