‘Avoid the area’: Police warning as busy road closed after lorry hits cyclist

Reports have been received that a Doncaster road is currently closed following an accident within the last hour.

It is understood that a lorry hit a cyclist on the A630 Warmsworth Road in Balby, near Waverley Avenue, a notorious accident hotspot.

South Yorkshire Police officers are in attendance.

A spokesman said: “Police were called at 11.19am this morning with reports of a collision between a lorry and a push bike on Warmsworth Road, Balby.

“One person, the cyclist, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The road remains closed at this time and people are being advised to avoid the area.
