89-year-old hospitalised with serious leg injuries after collision outside South Yorkshire pub

Road traffic officers are appealing for witnesses to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in a car park in Aughton, near Rotherham, yesterday (17 October).

At around 12.15pm police responded to reports that a Vauxhall Astra van had been in collision with an elderly woman in the car park of the Black Bull pub on Main Street.

An 89-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries, where she remains in a stable condition.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the women’s movements in the hours before the incident.

PC Adrian Hill, investigating, said: “The driver of the Vauxhall van had parked in the car park to visit a nearby business, on officers arrival at the scene the driver was routinely breath-tested, blowing zero. He is fully co-operating with our enquiries.

“I’m interested in speaking to anyone who might have seen the elderly lady on Main Street or near to the Black Bull around the time of the collision. If you have any dash-cam or CCTV footage, could you also make contact with us.

“If you have any information that might help, please call 101 quoting incident number 412 of 17 October.”
