SOUTH Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s director general David Brown is on the move.

He is to join Merseytravel and his role overseeing the SYPTE is to be advertised by the South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority.

Mr Brown has been director general since 2008 when he replaced Roy Wicks, before which he held the post of SYPTE passenger services director.

He is also the chairman of the Passenger Transport Executive Group, which promotes the interest of six Passenger Transport Executives on a national level.

Mick Jameson, chairman of the South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority, said: “We wish David well at Merseytravel and thank him for all he has done at SYPTE.

“We have achieved a lot in the years we have worked together, including putting top-class public transport infrastructure in place and implementing ground-breaking agreements with bus companies that make a real difference to the travelling public.

“We will continue to work with David through PTEG.”
