Around 40 staff at a threatened former Remploy factory have been given new hope for the future.
The surgical implants plant on Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, was taken over by R Healthcare last December – but the site is still running at a loss ‘due to slow growth in the sector’.
R Healthcare put the factory up for sale again – and has found another company interested in buying the site as a going concern.
Simon Webster, chairman of R Healthcare, said: “We are pleased to announce that there is interest within the orthotics sector.
“The preferred bidder is Renace, a new company owned and run by Chaneco, which has been an orthotic manufacturer since 1971.
“Following initial agreement have been in detailed contractual discussions.”
In the meantime, the factory will continue to trade, he added.
