Trams have been disrupted in Sheffield this afternoon after a passenger fell ill and needed medical assistance.

Stagecoach Supertram said shortly before 4.30pm that the passenger had become ill on a tram between Hillsborough Park and Middlewood, and staff were awaiting an ambulance.

Following trams were turning at Hillsborough for a short period but the service has since returned to normal after the passenger was taken to an ambulance.

It is not known at this stage what happened to the passenger or how serious their condition is,
