Trains between Sheffield and Chesterfield suspended due to death on tracks
Trains between Sheffield and Chesterfield were cancelled and delayed on Friday morning due to a death on the tracks.
British Transport Police said they were called to Dronfield railway station at 10.30am (February 19) following reports of a casualty on the tracks between the services.
Paramedics were also deployed, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, the police said the officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.
However, the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
National Rail had earlier reported that its Cross Country, East Midlands and Railway, and Northern services were affected by the incident.
The services have now returned to normal.
