Trainers' work earns praise

Meadowhall-based training centre The Source has won the Yorkshire and Humber Training Award at the National Training Awards ceremony.

The Source beat off competition from, among others, HBOS Plc, Leeds City Council and CPP Group Plc, to win the title and the judges’ praise for being an innovative and unique training and development centre.

Ann Cadman, The Source director, said: “The National Training Awards are highly respected in the industry. To win the Yorkshire and Humber title is extremely rewarding for everyone who works at The Source.

“Our aim is to meet the needs of learners and the community through a diverse and holistic programme of training. Receiving this commendation from the National Training Awards, which involves independent assessment, illustrates that our hard work and effort has paid off and that we genuinely offer the Sheffield community a national standard training centre.”

In the four and a half years since The Source was launched to help bridge the skills gap among shop workers in Sheffield. It has trained 1,600 local people.
