Tragedy as two Sheffield women die in early morning horror crash on major road

Two women killed in a horror crash yesterday were from Sheffield, police have revealed.

The women, who have not yet been identified, died in a crash in Renishaw, Derbyshire, yesterday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the smash on Station Road just before 5.40am following reports of a collision involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a blue BMW.

The women, who were travelling in the Corsa, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released from police custody under investigation after spending yesterday being quizzed.

The road between Renishaw and Eckington was closed until around 3pm yesterday for accident investigation work to be carried out at the scene.

Witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicles beforehand or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, should call Derbyshire Police on 101 and quote reference 101 of October 7.
