Traffic stopped on M1 near Sheffield and Chesterfield over concerns for woman on bridge

Traffic was held on the M1 near Sheffield and Chesterfield this morning over concerns for the welfare of a woman on a bridge.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident near Junction 30 – for south Sheffield and Chesterfield- at 6.35am.

Derbyshire Constabulary said: “A woman had been seen on the wrong side of the railings at the bridge over the M1 at junction 30.

“It was necessary to stop traffic on the M1 for half an hour while the woman was brought to safety.”
