Traffic halted on M1 near Sheffield as fire sends smoke billowing across carriageway
The M1 motorway near Sheffield is likely to close this evening while emergency services deal with a fire which is sending smoke billowing across the carriageway.
Highways England said fire engines and police were dealing with the incident on the northbound carriageway between junction 30 for Barlborough and junction 31 for Aston.
The fire is close to Woodall Services and motorists have been told to expect long delays and consider alternative routes.
