Traffic diverted following serious crash in Sheffield

Traffic is being diverted following a serious crash on a Sheffield road.

Bus operator Stagecoach has informed passengers this morning that there has been a serious collision on Normanton Hill, Intake.

The number seven service has been diverted via Stradbroke Road and Richmond Road between Woodhouse and Manor Top.

In May 2014, schoolgirl Jasmyn Chan was killed by a hit-and-run driver as she attempted to cross Normanton Hill.

Her killer, Naseeb Ellahi, was travelling at a minimum speed of 61mph when he ploughed into the 14-year-old and her friend, Tia Tucker, who was 12 at the time.

He was jailed for seven-and-a-half years.

In October last year a crossing was unveiled to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the road.

Details of today's collision have not yet been released by South Yorkshire Police.
