Woodhead Pass closed by moorland fire expected to burn for days
National Highways said several crews were at the scene.
A major road into Sheffield is closed after a car fire spread to moorlands which are expected to burn for days.
The A628 Woodhead Pass is closed in both directions between the A616 at Langsett and the A57 at Hollingworth, near Glossop.

National Highways said several crews were at the scene.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue was expecting to be fighting the blaze until at least Sunday, July 19, it added.
Traffic is diverted via local routes, it advised. But people travelling from further afield may wish to use alternative trans-pennine routes such as M1, M62 and M60.
National Highways said: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
Danielle Cutler, responding to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s Facebook post on the fire, said they had faced a long detour.
She wrote: “We were on our way back from seeing our grandkids in Bolton. We got turned round and and did a 15-20 mile detour on the moors.”
It is the latest of a string of moorland fires following heatwaves in the UK.
