Trains out of Sheffield disrupted for rest of the day as travellers to Manchester warned to check their routes
Disruptions to a number of train services out of Sheffield are expected throughout the rest of the day as urgent repair work takes place.
National Rail has released a warning for passengers as urgent repair work begins on a train track in the Stockport area.
The problem is disrupting services between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly for a number of providers, including Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway (EMR), Northern and TransPennine Express.

The damaged tracks will also affect routes from the city to Liverpool Lime Street.
Passengers hoping to travel to either of these stations are advised to check their journey before boarding, with each provider warning of different issues.
Northern have offered to lift advanced and peak ticket restrictions as the issues continue, while EMR say their trains will not be serving Stockport.
TransPennine Express released a statement, adding: “Services may be diverted from Sheffield towards Manchester Piccadilly via an alternative route.
“Trains diverting via this alternative route will be unable to serve Stockport.
“Trains that are unable to divert will still be able to run and will call at Stockport, however delays may occur.”
