THREE lanes closed on M1 for second time today for 'additional repairs' on pothole near Rotherham & Sheffield
Drivers are facing a second round of delays on the M1 today as road workers return to repair a pothole that was only filled in this morning.
During rush hour this morning, motorists in South Yorkshire faced delays as two lanes were closed on the M1 southbound between junction 34 - near to Meadowhall - and junction 33, near Catcliffe.
The lane closures were needed due to a pothole on the carriageway, which contractors attended to repair.

By 8.30am, all lanes were reopened, with National Highways releasing a statement saying the pothole had been ‘filled in’.
However, at around 1pm the government agency announced that three lanes had to be closed in the same area.
According to a statement sent to The Star, this is due to ‘additional repair’ required for the pothole that was fixed only a few hours earlier.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “We attended the scene of a pothole on the M1 between junctions 34 and 33 this morning, when a temporary mend was carried out and affected road users were escorted to the nearby services.
“The pothole requires further attention, and additional repairs are currently taking place under a three-lane closure which is necessary for the safety of road users and our workforce.”
At 2.30pm, traffic monitoring website AA warned of 30 minute delays for those travelling down this stretch of motorway.
