The motorway was closed to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles in both directions at junction 34 near Meadowhall due to winds buffeting the Tinsley Viaduct.

Highways England said affected vehicles including HGVs, motorbikes and caravans should consider alternative routes for their journeys this evening, Thursday, January 30.

The restrictions were lifted shortly before 9.30pm.
